August is Women’s Month, Cape Town!

And in celebration of the brave women who marched for equality some 60 odd years ago (1959 to be exact), we’ve sought out August activities around Cape Town so you can give your kudos. You can also book a Rikkis Taxi to get you there.

What Women Want (9 July 2015 – 13 August 2015)

Venue: St. George’s Mall, City Bowl

So there you are…taking a stroll down St. George’s Mall minding your own business. And a white and gold box blocks your way. It chants, “What women want” at you, prompting you to ask yourself “What’s this?”

It’s a Women’s Month activation set up by the Voices Club – Cape Town’s long overdue business club for women. The box is (quite literally) an open invitation to female passers-by to share, in one word, what they want by writing it on the larger-than-life container. On 13 August, Voices Club will host a grand reveal of what lies inside. So if you happen to be strolling through the CBD at 12h00, grab a coffee and stop by…

Women’s Humanity Arts Festival (6 – 9 August 2015)

Venue: Artscape Theatre, City Bowl

The annual Women’s Humanity Arts Festival is back for it’s 9th instalment, and it promises four days of female power! Put your best foot forward during a humanity walk and celebrate with a humanity meal when you’re done. Join social debate at a workshop. And experience what the Artscape does best – that is, be part of an audience at an inspiring theatre production.

Divas Unite Concert (9 August 2015)

Venue: Cape Town City Hall, City Bowl

While Women’s Day is about remembering, it’s also about giving back to enable others to be empowered. And having one’s health and wellbeing in tact is paramount to all facets of life, including personal growth. In comes Divas Unite, a charity concert to raise funds for Project Flamingo, which finances time-sensitive surgeries for newly, diagnosed breast cancer patients.

The line up for the Divas Unite concert includes local favourites to the tune of Freshly Ground’s Zolani Mahola and award-winning instrumental pop group Sterling EQ to name a few. Tickets are available on Computicket for R290, which includes Pongracz bubbly, tea, coffee and snacks.
