Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup has been running for the past six years and is the largest one-day charity polo event in the world. As the name suggests, it is exclusively held to raise money for the Sentebale charity, which means “forget-me-not” in Sesotho. Co-founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, the charity aims to help the most vulnerable children in Lesotho get the support they need to lead healthy and happy lives. Working with local grassroots organisations, their programs help a large number of beneficiaries among the victims of extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The event, which is held in a different country each year; have selected the estate which offers two of the finest, most luxurious polo playing grounds in the country. The royal families personally select guests who attend this event and it’s impossible to buy a ticket; we’ve heard rumours of some offering large sums of coinage just to sit with the Royal clans. The imagined response being #YouCantSitWithUs
Rikkis Taxis is proud to be the official transport and valet partner to the Val de Vie estate and Sentebale this year. “The estate has been using us for over a year now for various private events and functions and we’ve developed quite a good working synergy” says Ayub Baker, MD of Rikkis Taxis. The event is sure to be a good showcase of sportsmanship both on and off the field.
